How is the CPCU program changing?
The Institutes has changed the requirements for the CPCU designation and released new course materials for all of their CPCU courses. While the course numbers are staying the same, the course names have changed and consequently the new course materials are labeled as 1st editions. To keep things straight going forward, we’ll use the phrases “new 2023 edition” and “old 2020 edition.”
If you are taking an exam before September 15, 2023, you can continue to use the existing BDU study materials for any CPCU exam. All of our CPCU study materials were updated in 2020 or 2021 and correspond to the old 2020 edition CPCU exams. CPCU exams taken after October 15, 2023 will cover the new 2023 edition courses.

Will BDU release updated study materials for the new 2023 edition courses?
We will be updating all of our CPCU study materials, but it will take some time to get through updating all eight new 2023 edition courses and develop study materials for the brand new CPCU 550 exam.
At this time, we don’t have a precise estimate for when each set of BDU study materials will be updated. We’ve started updating CPCU 500, and we’ll work through the courses in numerical order. As we start working on the study material updates for each new 2023 edition course, we’ll create a blog post outlining those changes. As it stands, we hope to have the updated study materials for the core courses updated by the end of 2023 or in early 2024. The updates to the concentration courses will come after that.
